War2Combat 4.01 released!
“Here’s the new branch #4 of Combat, with several new ideas.
I have plans to continue developing this branch and stop 3.0 and 3.1 development.
Here’s time of fast internet connections and multi-TB drives, so there’s no more reason to save each Kb.
I added the campaign, all the classic and several custom maps, restored all the unit sounds and all the art.
I also decreased the wave compression ratio to get better sound.
And everything increased total size from 13 to 22 Mb.
I just didn’t add sound of campaign briefings because it should request more 20+ Mb.
Also including music should request more 50+ Mb.
And including videos should reguest more 200+ Mb.
But let’s go to the direction of beauty and functionality instead of smallest size.
New combat also includes War2PLoader which is autoupdated tool and that’s why i can update it as fast as i wish without combat reinstalling.
2 main things are still not perfect in currently exising war2 is palette problems in windows 7 and problems in windows 8-10.
I hope to resolve these problems some day…

Hi, I have four computers on my network and want to be able to use the “random port”
function so all my computers can play in the same game on the server. How do I configure my computers or router to do this? Thanks,
mousEtopher says
Hi Fred, on the first computer don’t select the “random port” option (in other words, install using the default port). On the other three computers, select the “random port” option. That should probably be all you need to do, but if people are getting the “Latency is too high” message when they try to join your game then you may need to manually set up port forwarding by following this guide.
If you run into any problems you can register an account on our forum and make a post under “Support Requests” and someone there will be happy to walk you through it. Good luck!

Hey, i can’t turn on my war2combat, what should i do?
mousEtopher says
What problem specifically are you having? You can also try posting about it on the forum and someone there will be happy to assist you.
nakos937 says
Hi! How can I put in the original music, videos and other stuff?
mousEtopher says
Hi nako, war2combat removes the music and other files for portability since they require several hundred mbs of space. You’ll need to get a copy of war2bne (battle.net edition) from somewhere else, e.g. an original cd, or an ISO file.
tim says
mousetother how do you get the battle.net edition
mousEtopher says
You can buy the CD off ebay or something, or you can download an ISO from somewhere, e.g. a torrent website.
spong says
hi how do get combat editon on disk
nakos937 says
And if I have one, how can i install the gateway and the patches?
mousEtopher says
You can add the gateways to BNE by downloading and running this registry file: ftp://ftp.war2.ru/war2/Warcraft2Gateways.zip
Adding the patches is more difficult, it would be much easier to just install War2Combat instead. If you really want to though, trying posting in the mods/development section of the forum and someone can probably walk you through it.

Mark says
Hello, thanks for this awesome server!
I actualy have the classic warcraft 2 cd and I would love to add the music to the game, how can i implent this exactly? I am not very experienced with it
mousEtopher says
If you have the Warcraft 2 “Battle.net Edition” cd then you just need to browse the disk & copy the “instal.exe” file into the war2combat directory. If you have the olllld original edition I’m not sure if it’ll work the same way, but you can try!
Mark says
I’ll give it a shot, thank you!
NCC says
i have the disks and all the files, how can i inject the movies, music, and audio during the campaign into this game? it no longer seem to search for the cd drive to read from.
mousEtopher says
hi NCC, just copy the “install.exe” file from your CD to the c:\war2combat directory to get all the extras (it’s ~~400mb)
Xenthar says
Hi! Huge thanks for making warcraft 2 still available!
I copied the install.exe from my CD to the c:\war2combat directory, but still in the campaign Alleria looks like a peasant! Is there a way to restore this also? If not, consider this a request to add the heroes avatars icons next release.. it cannot be too much mbs and makes a big difference in the playing experience.
mousEtopher says
Hi Xenthar, im not sure but you can ask on our forum in the “mods” section. There’s probably a way but it may involve some .mpq editing or something, im not sure. There’s general agreement about adding the music & other details back into the next release like you say since disk space isn’t at a premium like it used to be, but no know if/when that will happen as the project leads are all busy with their life since several years. glad you’re still playing & enjoying the game, if you’re interested come join us in our discord server to hang out & maybe catch some multiplayer games :) http://en.war2.ru/discord
Xenthar says
Thanks for the kind reply! I will try some multiplayer games, after some practise ;)

Should I worry?
mousEtopher says
Nope it’s fine, it’s the same version everyone on our server has used for years
