DrunkeN_SmurF-: How long you been playing wc2?
SoCxWarChief: Since Warcraft1, which is what go me started into all the other versions because I followed the story line.
SoCxWarChief: That and I am into mid-evil, War, strategical types of games.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: Where did you play before bnet?
SoCxWarChief: I started at Engage when it was Beta, a bit after it became costly to play for every hour I moved to Zone. Didn’t play much there because my comp wasn’t too great. So I concentrated more on leading my Clan.
SoCxWarChief: Engage AOL I should say for those uncertain of it.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: You started SoC at Zone?
SoCxWarChief: No, Engage
SoCxWarChief: 3rd Clan to rise from that server
SoCxWarChief: And I have lead it ever since without disbanding or steping down.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: soc’s been around for how many years?
SoCxWarChief: Last August 23rd was our 4th year anniversary. I created it August 23rd 1997. The Summer I steped into and found Engage.
SoCxWarChief: I was 16 back then, 20 now.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: damn, you ever have any one else be like co-leader is shiet?
SoCxWarChief: No, just 2nd and 3rd in Commands, which have come and gone. My longest 2nd in Command who been in SoC almost around 3 years now an still with me is SOCShadow.
SoCxWarChief: Otherwise I have constructed the orginization, rules, ranks, etc.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: how many members would you say has joined and left or still in it?
SoCxWarChief: Is that what you mean?

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: yes
SoCxWarChief: Wow…..heh….throughout over 4 years members come and go, thus why we have recruitment. And That has been a long time and we have had eras where we would be short on members liek around 30 something to having lots of members around 70 something. All together I would say perhaps over a couple hundred or more. I used to keep very long lists for record but….
SoCxWarChief: got to be so many that I stoped and concentrated on other tasks to work on for SoC.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: what other kinds of task?
SoCxWarChief: I manage the Clan Roster, check up on the lower ranking positions and keep notes of different paper works for the different Councils we hold which help keep the Clan running.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: damn a shiet load of work i’d say
SoCxWarChief: There is honestly a lot of work that helps keep the Clan running which is why I constructed ranks throughout the Clan for members to take on which requires them to perform certain tasks.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: you have done a lot for your clan i’d say, a true leader of a clan
–DrunkeN_SmurF-: You ever get tired of this game playing it for so long?
SoCxWarChief: Thank you. I have fun doing it to be honest and in some ways I perhaps its become a hobby. Because I’ve done the school bit, I work now, and from time to time I manage SoC and give these members something to belong to and have fun.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: its all about fun
SoCxWarChief: I don’t really get tired that much because there is always so much happening. I personally am very competitive, so I love playen against other people and I love getting my Clan into friendly Wars against other Clans. I’m constantly doing that. It helps build a Clans charector, helps get members more active and gives them something to compete for.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: id have to say soc is prolly one of the really true clans out there now a days
SoCxWarChief: I would like to think so. But all depends on what type of Clan you are looking for.
SoCxWarChief: For example…
SoCxWarChief: Some Clans concentrate on being made with only skilled players and those types of Clans don’t last past a month or bit more. Or some Clans just get made and have fun with other people playing scrimages etc.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: as for soc…?
SoCxWarChief: SoC ( Splintered Orcs Clan) is a Clan which doesn’t recruit based on skill, but recruits based on how the person can benefit the Clan. And we do check to make sure the person is not totally new to the game such as I’m fort and he still hall tryen to figure out what to do with his 2nd peon.
SoCxWarChief: We also ask that people wanting to join acknowledge our rules and ways of going about things
SoCxWarChief: and let us know if they will agree to abide by them.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: well enough of the clan subject… What are your favorite settings?
SoCxWarChief: That and fill out and application which lets us get to know the person better. From the answers in an app and comments from those SOC who tried the person out, we discuss everything and make decision witihn good amount of time.
SoCxWarChief: Used to be Old GOW player cuz that was a favorite on Engage. When I got to Bnet I got heavy into ladder gaems and the closest thing to gow was GOWBNE, so I am more use to that settings high or low or ef or fastest. But I still play old GOW just on low sets now.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: low old gow dont work to well
SoCxWarChief: Otherwise I also prefer good maps sucha s NWTR, Gold Seps, Maze, X-Marks the spot and couple others.
SoCxWarChief: low old works well if you know how to handle it. Some peeps get 8 or 6 on old low an are like ” Awe shit”
SoCxWarChief: but if you know where to go and what to do, you can still be in the game and kick @$$.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: ya i suppose. Who would you say your biggest victory was against?
SoCxWarChief: Hmmm……..Honestly hard to say. There are many great players out there. Some which I can stand toe to toe with with no problem, some with which I get vic over and vise versa. But…..
SoCxWarChief: There has been one guy who I respect as a player who seems to trash me quite often. And out of who knows ho many times he’s taken me, I’ve prolly taken him like 3-4 times.
SoCxWarChief: That player would be `DeChill

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: Do you dislike any one on bnet?
SoCxWarChief: No one in specific. I dislike groups of players who do certain things. Such as hack, smurf, trash talk, things like that.

SoCxWarChief: People have mouths on them like I never seen and forget its just a game.
SoCxWarChief: They trash talk to other people expecting to get somethig good out of it when all they get is trash talking back.

SoCxWarChief: Since my last War with Clan Peon I been eagerly looking for another friendly organized War with another Clan. I’ve scouted channels and War2 L.C. looking for a big enough, active and honorable playing Clan.

SoCxWarChief: To my suprise there are almost none left. There are Clans such as UK, RAM, FW etc who I consider a couple old Clans who I have yet to battle. But they have their own issues I would imagine.
SoCxWarChief: What I learned is that……
SoCxWarChief: many old Stable Clans are gone. And there are currently many new ones being started and it makes me wonder how long these will last. And who now a days are considered some of the real top Clans.
SoCxWarChief: Who is worth a challenge and not just some clique started to cause trouble or just to game for few weeks just to make another Clan or who knows what.

SoCxWarChief: I compare a lot of things. I came from Engage where there were many Clans, big active, honorable playing and even into that whole role playing aspect, posting on the boards and all.
SoCxWarChief: And there was always competition, Clasn allying others and waging Wars agaisnt other Clans and things. And back then was some of the most fun I ever had.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: Well how about this, What do you consider the best strat for gow bne/high/fastest?
SoCxWarChief: heh….depends. To be honest many starts can be pulled on this map. Anyone who has ever played me knows I ain’t one of those wall in and lust up quick players.
SoCxWarChief: I do multi strats. Meaning different strats at once at a player if one don’t pull through then the other almost certainly does.
SoCxWarChief: Such as choping into a players base while holding their grunts at bay in a choke like at 2. and Getting 2 cats at same time coming up.
SoCxWarChief: if chop dun work, Cat rush the bastard. and vise versa
SoCxWarChief: Choping, rushing, lusting, hoping over trees. Many strats possible on new GOW

SoCxWarChief: And even if you lose from it, you always learn what you did wrong and what to perfect the next time.

SoCxWarChief: Sometimes, sometimes when I do I become more relaxed and tend to rely on instinct other then ” were under attack” sounds or things like that. Hard to explain.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: oh, i rarely listen to wc2, i just look at mini map a lot
SoCxWarChief: One thing I would love to see on Battle.net would be a much more friendlier community. Get on Bnet, play games, make friends. Any problems you have with someone, just ignore them, not worth trash talking or arguing cuz it gets you no where.
SoCxWarChief: If anything you waste more time that you could use to game.

–DrunkeN_SmurF-: well that will never happen, ppl like to talk shiet. its just a instict of some sort
SoCxWarChief: Two main channels I see mcuh of this would be War2 LAdder challenges and Clan [24-7].
SoCxWarChief: Not so sure of Clan [24-7] now cuz been a while since i been there.

SoCxWarChief: I would however like to know what people consider are top Clans based on things wether skill, orginization, presence, members, history or whatever. That and the Top Players who are very skilled on a number of maps and not just GOW sections
