Server admin iL and player tupac have been hard at work developing an effective antihack system for detecting in-game hacking. Today iL announced the frontend of the system has been integrated into the server status page.
The antihack is a two part system.
- Users must log in using the latest version of War2Combat, which reports whether or not they’re hacking to the server.
- The server evaluates the information and displays the verdict on the status page.
The antihack information appears in the last column of the table and will display the following based on each user’s status:
- AH – The player is using the antihack-enabled client and is not currently hacking.
- HACK! – The player is using the antihack-enabled client and IS currently hacking.
- none – The player is not using the antihack-enabled client.
- AH elapsed – The antihack was previously working, but the server has not been receiving updates for unknown reasons.
Next Steps
This is just the latest progress report of an ongoing project. The antihack still needs further development and testing to ensure its effectiveness and compatibility for all users. Some potential enhancements that are in the works:
- Players receiving a private message in-game letting them known if another player is detected hacking.
- Hacking player automatically banned from game/server.
- Public list of players caught hacking.
- All users required to use the latest War2Combat client in order to play on the server. (Other clients will likely still be allowed to connect and chat.)
